Hello, I am Elaine Grubb.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) , Licensed Independent Chemical Dependence Counselor (LICDC) and EMDR therapist in the State of Ohio. My expertise is in anxiety and panic attacks, working through trauma, dissociative disorders and general life stress issues. I enjoy working with both adolescent and adults.
As your therapist, I work from a non-judgmental, empathetic, confidential approach. I focus on listening to the knowledge you bring to our sessions about your issues. I request your honesty and openness as we delve into your concerns. Sometimes, we may tread on issues that are not necessarily comfortable for you – but often that process will provide valuable insight. Please be open to change.
Your ownership of your issue is always key. Motivation will play an important role in how you address your concerns. Realizing that you are in control of your future is paramount.
When we chat, we will utilize a variety of techniques – all suited to what you need to accomplish your goals at the moment. Approaches frequently incorporated in your personalized plan may include motivational based cognitive therapies, mindfulness and acceptance approaches, emotionally focused approaches, solution focused therapy, bibliography, existential probes, and thought provoking homework.
My Background:
I secured my Bachelor's Degree from Denison University and spent fourteen successful years in the business world. With a redirection in life, I chose to follow my passion of helping others. I returned to school and received my Master's Degree in counseling from the University of Dayton. Since substance addiction is prevalent in our society, I immersed myself at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, Talbot Hall to understand addiction from the medical perspective. Personal exposure to those who suffer from severe Anxiety and Panic Disorder and Psychogenic seizures, encouraged me to fine tune my expertise. Past trauma in a variety of conditions is, regrettably, much more common that we want to believe. I have focused considerable energy on developing therapeutic resources to address past trauma as it relates to dissociative disorders. Personal life experiences with ADHD, Asperger Syndrome and Adoption issues round out the knowledge and empathy of who I am.
My Purpose for You:
As human beings, life will force each of us to work through a variety of life “happenings”.
My purpose is to use our counseling experiences together to help guide you
through your issues, at your pace, with your insight.
